Q: Where do your Dalmatians come from?

Most of our Dals come from shelters

Most of our Dals come from shelters. Often they have been picked up as strays. Sometimes they have been turned in by owners who cannot keep them. Occasionally we take Dalmatians directly from owners who no longer want them.

Q: Are all Dalmatians deaf?

Approximately 30% of Dalmatians are born deaf in one or both ears.

If we have questions about the hearing status of our Dalmatians, we have their hearing tested by a veterinarian who has the equipment necessary to do the BAER (Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response) test. This is the only way to know with certainty whether or not a dog can hear.

Q: Are Dalmatians with blue eyes blind?

Dalmatians with blue eyes are not blind

No. Dalmatians with blue eyes have no vision problems whatsoever.

It depends on your point of view. Dalmatians, especially young Dals, have a great deal of energy and love to run at full speed. They need a safe place to exercise off-lead on a daily basis and lots of walks. They are intelligent and inventive, love toys, and think life should be non-stop play. They love to interact with their humans.

Well-trained Dalmatians are good with well-behaved children. We do not place Dals with very young children. We believe dogs and children of any age should be supervised at all times

When you adopt, we will discuss appropriate ways to introduce your new Dal to the dog you have at home

No. This is generally not a good idea. Your dog will find herself in a strange place and will most likely not act like herself at all. Dogs do not always begin playing together as soon as they meet. When you adopt, we will discuss appropriate ways to introduce your new Dal to the dog you have at home.

Q: Can we adopt a rescue Dalmatian for breeding purposes?
